Uploading Videos
Videos give your signage motion and personality. SignPresenter supports most common formats — but there are a couple of size and codec rules worth knowing up front.
Before you start
- Your video must be under 1 GB. If yours is bigger, compress it with HandBrake (free).
- Use a Horizontal or Vertical message — the layout must match your screen orientation.
Upload steps
-
Go to Messages in SignPresenter. Click Horizontal or Vertical, then choose Video With Audio or Silent Video.
-
Type a Category and a Name for the video.
-
Click the blue Upload button, find the video on your computer, and select it.

-
You'll see a Pending Upload label. Click Save to start the upload.

-
Stay on the page until you see the next screen — this is when the actual upload happens.

-
Once uploaded, you'll see the message below. You can leave the page now — processing happens server-side. Come back later to confirm the video processed cleanly.

What if the video fails to process or shows up black?
We work hard to support every codec, but sometimes a video fails to process. If yours does:
- Open it in HandBrake (free).
- Re-encode it (HandBrake's default preset is fine in most cases).
- Re-upload the new file.
Changing the codec almost always fixes processing problems.
If you've tried that and it still doesn't work, email [email protected] and — if possible — share the original video via Dropbox or Google Drive. We'll analyze it and help you get the issue resolved.
